The advantages of learning a foreign language at an early age are undisputed in science and have already been proven by a large number of studies. For example, learning a second language at nursery age not only has a positive effect on children's linguistic skills, but also makes itself felt in the long term through better academic performance in other subjects. Early foreign language acquisition also strengthens self-confidence and intercultural competence.

With the concept of a bilingual learning workshop, the GGB wants to create a platform to introduce pedagogical professionals to the variety of methods and pedagogical tools for bilingual language acquisition. The workshop principle has the potential to be interactive, communicative and last but not least self-educational. 

Duration and scope

The learning workshop is offered in the 2+1 model. The first two days serve to learn and try out tried and tested methods for bilingual language acquisition in daycare centers. The learners are accompanied and guided by practitioners. In order to achieve a sustainable and reflected learning effect, these two days are supplemented by a third day after 4-6 weeks. This allows the participants to implement and try out the methods they have learned in their everyday working lives. Together with the other participants, these experiences are evaluated on the third day, reflected upon and, if necessary, improvement or alternative possibilities are sought.

The sustainability of the learning workshop is also ensured by other factors.
These are, for example:

  • Materials with a strong call character
  • Sufficient time for discussion
  • methodical and professional learning support
  • Reflection time
  • Practice time
  • Accompaniment and advice beyond the actual context

Target group

With this offer, we would like to address all pedagogical professionals in the field of early childhood education, regardless of their previous education, foreign language skills or conceptual background. Interested educators can get to know a pool of methods, materials and frameworks and thus gain highly individual learning experiences.

The transfer into the individual pedagogical everyday life is therefore conceivable in every possible context. It does not matter whether the institution has already established initial or distinct contents of bilingual language acquisition or would like to align itself completely new with these pedagogical contents.

The training workshops offered by GGB Gesellschaft zur ganzheitlichen Bildung gGmbH are co-financed by tax funds from the Saxon State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs on the basis of the budget passed by the members of the Saxon State Parliament.
